John Jones CURRAN and Jane Millar were married on 1st August 1872 in the Wesleyan Church, Dromore, Co. Down.
A few months after the birth of their first child (Harriet Helen, born 8th March 1873), the family gave up the mills at Lismore and emigrated to Canada in late 1873. The family, including all but the youngest of John George's children from his first marriage, settled in Orillia, Simcoe County, Ontario. The youngest was left in the care of relatives in Ireland.
In the 1881 Canadian Census#1, JJC is listed as a Merchant.
He is married to Jennie Curran, ond the family consists of four children from his first marriage,
plus six from the current marriage - Helen Harriet, their first child was born in Ireland,
and the rest since the family arrived in Canada. .
Margaret Jane, the youngest child from the first marriage was still in Ireland.
