James and Jane were married in St Savior's Church of Ireland on 26th June 1905 by licence. The ceremony was performed by Rev. R Thacker. At the time of the marriage, James was resident in Ternagreevagh (Parish of Loughgall) and Jane in Derryhale (Parish of Kilmore). They were both of "full age" ( i.e. over 21) James' father was George Curran, Jane's was William Maxwell, both farmers. The witnesses were William Maxwell and Charlotte Houston.

In the 1911 census, James and Jane were listed as living at 61 Church Street, Portadown, with two children, George Northridge aged 4 years, and William Ernest Cullen aged 1 year. The family were Methodists.
