Jane MAXWELL

(1876-1937)


Jane was born in Derryhale, Richhill, on the 20th July 1876. Her Birth Certificate records that she was a daughter of William and Alice MAXWELL (nee BOYD), both of Derryhale. The informant was the father. The birth was registered on the 24th July 1876 in Richhill.1

In the 1911 Census of Ireland, Jane is living with her parents in the family home in Derryhale. She is aged 24, unmarried and her occupation is described as "farmer's daughter".3

Jane married James Lyons CURRAN in St Saviors (C of I) Church, Pordadown on 28th June 1905. The Marriage Certificate records ages of both the Bride and Groom as "Full". James is listed as living in Fernagreevagh and Jane in Derryhale at the time of the marriage. the respective fathers are George CURRAN and William MAXWELL, farmers. The witnesses were William MAXWELL and Charlotte Houston.(2)

The 1911 Census of Ireland records that Jane and her husband are living in Church Street, Portadown, and have two children, George Northridge, aged 4 years, and James Lyons, aged 1 year.4

Jane died on 4th February, 1937 of Influenza & Bronchial Pneumonia at 1 Church Street, Portadown.5 She was buried in Drumcree Cemetery, Portadown on 7th February 1937.
