Owen Bernard WALLIS

WALLIS, Owen Bernard, M.A., LL.B. (Cambridge). Solicitor and Notary Public. Vineyard Hill, Hampton Park, Hereford, and 133, St. Owen Street, Hereford.

Born 1889, Hereford. Son of Edmund Lamb Wallis.

Educated at The Leys School, Cambridge, and Emmanuel College, Cambridge.

Married 1921, Margaret, daughter of Dr. Peter Giles, Master of Emmanuel College and Vice-Chancellor of Cambridge University.

Courts Martial Officer, H.Q. Dublin District, 1919-1920.

Deputy Coroner for south Herefordshire, 1920. Official Receiver in Bankruptcy for Districts of Hereford and Leominster, 1928. Honorary Secretary Hereford County and City War Memorial. Chairman Hereford Rural Community Drama Festival. Member of Lord Scudmore’s Trust and Educational Foundation.

Trustee of Dean Leigh Temperance Canteen.

Mobilized with 1st Battalion the Herefordshire Regiment, 4th August, 1914; Suvla Bay Landing, Gallipoli, 9th August, 1915; Egypt, 1916; attached 4th Battalion K.S.L.I., France, 1917-1918. Captain.

Dublin Garrison Rugby XV, 1919-1920. Sculling Champion of the Dee (Chester), 1920 and 1921. Captain Hereford Rowing Club, 1925.
